Welcome to the Foxes Class! First of all, welcome back and I hope you all had a good summer! I’m Miss Fernihough, the Foxes Class teacher and I’m supported in class by Mrs Wilson and Mrs Partington. Mrs Wilson will also be teaching the Foxes Class on all day Tuesday and on Thursday afternoons.
We are all really looking forward to seeing how the children grow and progress this year and will provide them with the support they need to enable this. Our expectations are high in the classroom and the children are expected to produce work of a good standard with behaviour to match. Their work needs to be to the best of their ability, however as I will remind the children, it’s okay to make mistakes!
We would all much rather they had a go and joined in rather than being afraid to offer their answers. When entering the school, we still have a one way system in place and we ask that only one parent drops off and collects their child and where possible siblings do not come into school.
All children will be able to enter the site from 8:25 and registers will be at 8:40. The end of the day will be 3:00.
Our PE days are Monday and Tuesday, however a full PE kit should ideally be in school at all times during term (in case we ever decide to do an extra PE session during the week).
Please send your child with jogging bottoms/ leggings and a sweatshirt as the weather gets colder and girls will need a spare pair of socks in their kits if they come to school wearing tights as we don’t allow tights to be left on under shorts. Children cannot wear earrings for PE, so if your child is unable to remove their earrings themselves, please ensure they do not wear them on PE days.
Homework books will be used this term and they will be given 1 piece of Maths and 1 piece of English homework each Friday which will be expected back on Tuesday. Sometimes, homework might include logging onto TTRockstars/ Mathletics and completing tasks set on there and their logins for these websites can be found on the inside of their reading diaries (if they get lost please do not hesitate to contact me and I can resend you their logins).
If you don’t have access to the internet, please let me know and I can arrange for paper copies to be sent home instead.
Attached is a class fact sheet for more information about our class! If you need to speak to me about your child’s progress or any concerns you may have, you can either drop me an email cfernihough@linton.derbyshire.sch.uk or ring the school office and I will call you back at the end of the day.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
