Welcome to the Owls class page!
I am Mrs Badwal, the class teacher on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Miss Routledge is the class teacher on Thursdays and Fridays. We also have magic fairies in our class helping us out who go by the names of Mrs Dennis, Mrs Fearn and Mrs Walters. We work together as a team to ensure every child is well supported in their learning journey here in year one.
If your child has produced work at home they are proud of, please bring it in so it can be celebrated on our new “Wow Wall” in the classroom.
If there are any concerns/worries/good news/any news about your child, we are available to speak with as you bring your child into school in the morning or we can arrange a specific time after school one day. Alternatively you can contact me on my school email address at firstname.lastname@example.org or Miss Routledge at email@example.com
Wow - what a great half term.
The children have taken new routines, structure, a formal setting and a new curriculum in their stride. We have covered an exceptional amount of learning in all areas.
In Maths, we have been focusing on counting in 1s, 10s, 2s and 5s. We have been looking at place value with our ones and tens. We have also been working on learning how to read, write and work out an addition number sentence by using different methods. Alongside counting objects we have also been using number lines to jump forward on. A great start to our super mathematicians.
In English we have been looking at different story texts and spending a lot of time talking, acting and expressing it in different ways. We have been building our grammar and word skills by learning what an adjective is and bossy verbs. The children have shown great resilience in sentence writing and getting their ideas down on paper. During phonics we have recapped our phase 2 sounds and are working on building our confidence with our phase 3 sounds.
Amongst all of the focused classwork the Owls have been spending time exploring our woods, looking closely at the changes we spot during Autumn time, from the changes to the leaves, weather and colours to pond dipping in our wellies.
All in all the Owls have thoroughly enjoyed their first half term in year 1 and look forward to the festivities ahead.
Have a great half term,
Mrs Badwal and Miss Routledge
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
