Welcome to the Year 5 Foxes class!

I’m Miss Fernihough, the Foxes Class teacher and we are lucky to be supported in class by Mrs Benson (except on Monday and Friday afternoons), Mrs Beavis on a Monday and Friday, Mrs James on a Wednesday and Thursday morning, Mrs Windle on a Thursday morning and Mrs Roberts on a Thursday afternoon. Mrs Benson will also be covering my PPA on a Thursday afternoon. We are very lucky to be based in the Thelma Smith building, located on the playground. Our expectations are high in the classroom and the children are expected to produce work of a high standard with behaviour to match. Their work needs to be to the best of their ability, however as we remind the children, it’s okay to make mistakes! It is our strong belief that reading is the key to everything. Regular and wide reading has far reaching benefits throughout the curriculum...and it can also be a lot of fun! To encourage this, Foxes class have a Reading Reward Chart, where they can earn rewards for every 10 reads with an adult at home and for every read, their name gets entered into a weekly prize draw, so please make sure to record when they read in their Reading Records and make sure these are in school every day. We also hold regular reading competitions, so make sure to keep an eye out! Please also support your children with any homework, spellings, times tables and online learning games as often as possible. Any logins required will be available in their Homework books and Reading Records.
